Daniel B. Lott, Jr. (“Dan”) was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on May 21, 1961. He spent his formative years in Metter, Georgia and in Hinesville, Georgia. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology, with highest honors, in 1983. He also graduated, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1991. While in law school, Dan was elected to the Order of the Wig and Robe and the Order of the Coif. He also served as a Research Editor on the Student Editorial Board for the American Bar Association Real Property, Probate and Trust Journal. In addition, he served as a Student Legal Writing Instructor while at USC.
Dan was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1991. He is a former loan officer and branch manager of The Hinesville Bank (now The Heritage Bank) of Hinesville; and NCNB South Carolina (predecessor to Bank of America) in Beaufort, South Carolina. He served on the Board of Governors of the Savannah Chapter of the American Institute of Bankers, and he is a graduate of Leadership Beaufort.
Dan has served two terms on the Blue Ribbon Committee for school construction of Richland County School District One. He has also served as an elder of First Presbyterian Church in Hinesville, Georgia; and Shandon Presbyterian Church and Eastminster Presbyterian Church, both in Columbia.
